I have a price range of 1200-1300$$ and would like to make the best computer with in that range.
Custom PC

* Processor – Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 GHz) Dual-Core Socket 775 Processor
* Memory – Patriot Memory Extreme Performance PC2-6400 Low Latency – 4.0GB Dual-Channel Kit
* Hard Drive 1 – Seagate SV35 Series 250GB – SATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive For Digital Video Surveillance – OEM
* Optical Drive – LG GSA-H55L (Black) 20x IDE DVD±Writer with LightScribe *FREE Verbatim DVD+R 3-Pack* – OEM
* Video Card 1 – Zotac GeForce GTX-260 896MB PCI-Express 2.0 with Built-In PhysX
tell me where i should make changes and if this computer will hold up with games in the next 3 years.
It looks ok but i wouldn’t buy it just yet there’s a couple of things you could look at.
For starters everyone thinks 4 gig of ram is good but windows can’t even see it!
That aside if your running Windows XP:
It’s actually better to have 2gig of ram if you a gamer it’s a thing to do with less numbers to look through to find what it want’s which gives you higher fps.
If you have Windows Vista:
Get the 4 gig because windows process chew up all your ram.
No matter which Operating System you have make sure you have 2 sticks of ram.
eg if you won’t 4 gig of ram total get 2, 2gig sticks.
eg if you won’t 2 gig of ram total get 2, 1 gig sticks.
This being so windows uses a completely separate stick of ram for gaming which gives you better fps. Plus windows services won’t effect your game play!
Your hard drive is ok just check the RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) and make sure its above 7000+ other wise no matter how fast your computer things will take a while to load.
Um your graphics card…look at the GT, GTS and GTX. 9600’s 9800’s if there to much get a 8800 or lower.
You may have left out some info with your card because I’ve never heard of a 260???. It could already be the 9600 =].
